While looking over the menu, the crew brings a basket of their signature hush puppies and fried okra to nibble on until you decide where to start. If you’ve never had their Smoked Catfish, they will gladly bring you a sample to taste before ordering.

Speaking for myself, it didn’t take long to decide since I wanted to try a little bit of everything!
Menu Showcase:
Smoked Catfish
Fiddler (whole fried catfish)
Sample Plater
Bottle Beer in a Frosted Mug
Key Lime Pie
My smoked catfish was huge and weighed about a pound. It was served hot, with each bite offering the delicious smoked flavor of the meat along with a slight spicy kick of the seasoning.
The owner tells me that although it might resemble blackened catfish, the method used to prepare each is totally different.
The sought after smoked delicacy is absolutely delicious hot, but some also enjoy its flavors once it reaches room temperature. Thus giving the flavors extra time to marinate. You can’t go wrong either way!

Due to the unique process, the restaurant is able to ship smoked catfish to customers nationwide who crave a taste but cannot visit. This shipping service is typically offered from fall to early spring when the weather is cooler. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates on when shipments are available.

A variety of other popular menu items can be found on the sample platter. This includes 2 Fried Shrimp, 2 BBQ Ribs, Cajun Shrimp, Smoked Catfish Bites, and 2 Catfish Fillets (strips).
This platter has a nice mix of the most popular menu items. So if you’re unfamiliar with the menu, then this is a perfect place to start.
The most notable for me on the sample platter were the BBQ ribs and Cajun shrimp. Each rib had plenty of tasty meat, slathered with slightly sweet BBQ sauce. The Cajun shrimp are served cold with easily removable shells. Although labeled as Cajun, they were firm with a good flavor and without being overly spicy.
I also ordered a single fried catfish fillet referred to as a Fiddler on the menu. They are a smaller size of about 3 to 5 ounces I believe, but packed with a deliciously golden fried flavor.
For an all catfish and seafood feast, I could definitely see ordering the Smoked Catfish and Cajun Shrimp for a delicious combo and unforgettable dining experience. Or a full order of ribs if you’re more interested in turf than serf.

Ask about their homemade dessert! Even if your full, take a slice for later. My slice of homemade Key Lime Pie was absolutely mouthwatering!

The Pickwick Catfish Farm has always been a family owned and operated restaurant. Although the current owners aren’t related, they are considered “adopted family” since they themselves worked at the restaurant growing up and learned from the original owners.
Wether your a long time customer or first time visitor, you’ll always be greeted and treated like family when visiting the Pickwick Catfish Farm Restaurant in Counce Tennessee!
Everyone’s taste is different. My goal is to give you a glimpse of what I see and experience so you can judge for yourselves if the atmosphere and menu are right for you. So when you visit, be sure to tell the crew I recommended you. Happy Trails!!
